Consent

We received an e-mail on Wednesday that BM consented in court on Tuesday.  This is what we expected to happen after we met with her a couple of weeks ago.  Her attendance has been a bit spotty, so we were concerned that she may not show up in court.

After this milestone, we are in the home stretch now to be able to finalize the adoption.  After a 30 day appeal period mandated by the law, we are free to move forward.

The next step is to fill out the application with our adoption worker.  We have a little bit of stuff to complete for her to integrate into the application.  After that, it goes off to the ministry, and then to a judge for an adoption order.  That could take a few months, but it is not dependent on anyone having to go to  court.
