Fostering

We now have a foster child. A new adventure begins.  Scary and exciting all at the same time.

In the past few years, I have sensed an increasing call to become involved in caring for orphans and the fatherless.  I haven’t been sure what direction it will take, but so far, it has been adopting two children, and taking on the call to faster.

The call to care for widows, orphans, the fatherless, and the vulnerable comes directly from the heart of God, as spoken in the Bible:

James 1:27 Pure and genuine religion in the sight of God the Father means caring for orphans and widows in their distress and refusing to let the world corrupt you. (NLT)

Psalm 82:3,4

3 “Give justice to the poor and the orphan;
uphold the rights of the oppressed and the destitute.
4 Rescue the poor and helpless;
deliver them from the grasp of evil people.  (NLT)

Jeremiah 22:3

This is what the Lord says: Be fair-minded and just. Do what is right! Help those who have been robbed; rescue them from their oppressors. Quit your evil deeds! Do not mistreat foreigners, orphans, and widows. Stop murdering the innocent! (NLT)

Micah 6:8 (NLT)

No, O people, the Lord has told you what is good,
and this is what he requires of you:
to do what is right, to love mercy,
and to walk humbly with your God.
