Health returns?

November 12, 2012

After a long stretch of sickness, it looks like we are getting better.

It’s about time.

Over the last week, we have all been suffering, but everyone is on the mend.

Recovering from the bug?

February 8, 2012

After almost two weeks of struggling with a cold (possibly the flu?), I finally seemed to have turned the corner.  It’s taken four whole days, parts of three, two visits to the doctor, one really long nap, and some antibiotics to finally get over it.

Everyone else seems to be getting better, as well.

In the midst of all that is going on, these still are relatively minor challenges.

There are sill people around the world starving to death, suffering from diseases that can be treated for pennies, or people who get sick and lose everything.

In the midst of it all, things are good.

End of the week

February 4, 2012

It’s been a long week.  As the week wraps up, we have all been hit by the cold bug.

Poor Reid didn’t sleep well last night.  Wednesday and Thursday night were not great.  He woke up about 5 or 6 times through the night.  After getting his soother, he fell back to sleep fairly quickly.

He wasn’t doing great Friday night.  He was not overly energetic.  He felt a bit fevered.  We tried calling our doctor, and ended up getting stuck with the after hours service.  We had to wait to wait until the morning to make an appointment.

Friday night was a different story.  He woke up a few times, but about four he woke up and wouldn’t go back to sleep.  After getting some medicine, he fell back to sleep.

In the morning, it ended up that our family doctor was on all, and I ended up taking Reid to see him.  He gave us a prescription for a antibiotic, in case he is getting an ear infection .

Most of us are starting to get better.

Today, Tate had quizzing finals.  He did quite well.  He got a perfect quiz, which is not bad for a five year old, competing with kids up to grade six.

Another fabulous day … finished

December 5, 2011

The day ended about as well as it began.

After supper, Sandra thought it would a good idea to go to the local McDonald’s play place. I was somewhat hesitant, but thought it may wear everyone out.

Everything went pretty well.  Lots of fun.  Everyone played well until it was time to go.  I gave P a five minute warning, and went to collect Tate and Reid.  They came fine.

Sandra told P it was time to go.  Rather than put on his boots, he decided to run back to the play equipment.  This led to a massive meltdown, quite similar to Chernobyl.  Lots of screaming and hollering and wailing.  Led to a treat for us.  Everyone else enjoyed their treat.

I enjoyed a cup of anniversary blend from Starbucks, with a shot of Caramel Brule.  Mmmmmm, good.

When it came time to go to bed, P went first.  About twenty minutes later, I went up to check on him.  He was still awake.  A few minutes later, I went back and he was still awake.  I got him up and took Tate up to bed.  About five minutes later, I went up, and Tate was out.  P went to bed, and hopefully asleep quickly.
