The arrival of spring

April 8, 2014

I was ready to write ma!post about how we were finally doing some spring activities last night.

And them there is snow on the ground this morning. It will likely be gone by lunch.

We took the boys out on their bikes over the last couple of nights.

Reid and Tate are both moving up to a bigger bike. Reid has taken over Tate’s old bike. Last year he used a device to keep his feet in place on the pedals. Over the winter, he had developed enough control that he didn’t need the device on his old home. We tried him on the new bike without the device, and he mastered it fairly quickly.

Tate is waiting for his new bike to be fixed up.

We also took J out. He hasn’t been on a bike before. We walked alongside him and helped keep him straight and balanced while he pedaled. By the end of our time last night, he was going on hiss own in the parking lot. It was kind of shaky, but he was getting it.

Before long, we will be riding the trails.

Winter – the end is near

March 14, 2014

Earlier this week, we had a couple of warm days that melted tons of snow.

We had a nasty snowfall on Wednesday, with about six to eight inches of snow. Thursday morning had some ugly road conditions, with lots of accidents in the area.

Today was warm again, and much of the snow from this week is gone. There is stilly much to melt.

Come on, spring!!

Enough with winter

March 4, 2014

I am done with winter. It can kiss my butt.

The last time I remember this much cold weather was 20 years ago, in 1994. I renewer it was cold for about six weeks back then.

We have had multiple record breaking cold days this winter.

Usually by early March, there is a break. There is possibly one say it may get close to freezing this week.

And the whole month is supposed to be colder than average.

I saw a funny post earlier today:

I’m giving up cold and snow for Lent. If enough people take this on, maybe it will change.

Come on, spring weather!!!

Spring is here?

April 5, 2013

It’s been a couple of weeks since spring arrived.  At least according to the calendar.

We have experienced many days with cold winds, as well.

There is one sure thing that spring is coming.  We took our bikes in to be tuned up.
